Position: Virginia Tech College of Science Associate Director for Educational Research [DBER]

The College of Science at Virginia Tech invites applications for the position of Associate Director for Educational Research. The main purpose of this position, which is at the rank of tenured Associate Professor or tenured Professor, is to lead the College of Science's efforts to advance discipline-based education research (DBER) and scholarship across the College.

The position is a joint partnership between the College of Science and the successful candidate's disciplinary department within the College, which will be their tenure home.

The Associate Director for Educational Research is a new position and is part of a broader College of Science initiative for advancing undergraduate science education. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Estrella Johnson, Director of this initiative, as a leader in developing and accomplishing the initiative's goals.

Through this initiative, the College of Science is in the process of establishing a Center for Advancing Undergraduate Science Education. The Center will have both a "research to practice" arm for improving undergraduate instruction and a "practice to research" arm for increasing capacity to conduct DBER. The Associate Director for Educational Research will help lead the "practice to research" arm.

We are very excited about this opportunity at Virginia Tech. Please consider applying if this suits you, and please share widely with your DBER colleagues. Questions can be directed to Megan Wawro (mwawro@vt.edu) or Estrella Johnson (strej@vt.edu).

Candidates should apply at the Virginia Tech job portal (Job #527612).

Review of applications will begin on January 5th, 2024.
