What is the Accelerating Systemic Change Network (ASCN)?

We are a network of change agents and change researchers working to advance systemic change in STEM higher education for improved student learning. Check out the About ASCN for an overview of our network, principles, and structure. ASCN achieves its aims through Resource Curation and Creation, Endorsing Ideas and Resources, and Cultivating Connections for the STEM higher education ecosystem. How do I join the network?

Joining the network is easy! Complete the join the network survey. Joining the network is free. With network membership, you can elect to receive our monthly newsletter. If you elect to follow or be an active member of the working groups, you will receive periodic updates from those working groups via an email listserv.

How can I keep up to date with the network and working group activities?

Join the network! You will receive email updates from the working groups you express interest in following and the monthly network newsletter.

You can also follow us on social media to stay updated with network activities. We are on X (formerly Twitter) @ascnhighered ( This site may be offline. ) , Facebook , and LinkedIn.

How do I join a working group?

If you are not an ASCN member:

If you are already a member and want to join a new working group:

  • Reach out to us at cricpe-ascn@wmich.edu to indicate the group you would like to join, and we will update your membership.

How do I change my email preferences?

If you need to update your email, log in to your SERC account and select "Manage Email List Subscriptions" in the righthand navigation menu. You can then elect to unsubscribe from any email list you have been added to via ASCN.

What is the difference between being an active member and a follower of a working group?

Some ASCN participants will play more active membership roles, and others may be interested in following the group's actions. Therefore, you can elect to be an active member of working groups or follow the group's activities. Review the About ASCN page to learn more about the network structure.

What is my SERC account? What is the password-protected part of the site for?

The Science Education Resource Center through Carleton College (SERC) hosts the ASCN site. Your SERC account will allow you to log in to the ASCN password-protected part of the site (For Team Members). This part of the site serves as a private space for groups to keep notes from group meetings, collect working group products, and create a lasting record of working group activities.
