Education reform requires many partners from across the educational system to work together towards common goals. Change doesn't readily occur (or stick) when led by lone champions without broader support. Collaboration and engagement across multiple stakeholders have thus been the topic of multiple ASCN webinars.

Assessments may be only part of a course, but they can play a critical role in fostering or hindering student learning. Assessments that seemingly provide equal opportunity to demonstrate student learning can actually unintentionally send messages that a student does not belong in a given course. In this informal discussion, we will explore characteristics of equitable assessments and reflect on our own implicit assumptions about grading and assessment.

Brief description: It's proposal time! Many people are pulling together ideas for the next round of NSF proposals on institutional change, and many of these will include some element of change leadership (the topic of our working group).
Stephanie Chasteen, working group co-leader and an experienced evaluator of NSF-IUSE proposals, hosted a discussion about evaluation planning and scope. Notes from the discussion can be found here.
