Monday, January 29th, 2024

9-10 am PT | 10-11 am MT | 11 am - 12 pm CT | 12-1 pm ET

Presenters: Dr. Cassandra Volpe Horii, Stanford University and Dr. Mark Lee, Spelman College

Overview

How can we systemically support ALL who teach, including Visiting faculty, Instructors, Teaching assistants, Adjunct faculty, Lecturers (VITAL faculty) and full-time/non-contingent faculty? The 2023 article, "An Instructional-Workforce Framework for Coordinated Change in Undergraduate Education," which emerged from collaborations across diverse institutions through the National Academies, identifies three systemic, interlinked levers for change that can make conditions better for educators, while centering justice and equity. In this webinar, we will share an overview of the Instructional-Workforce Framework and build on it together, with a particular focus on its application toward justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and toward aligning incentives with systemic change, in participants' higher education contexts.

Audience

Higher education faculty, staff, and administrators working on aspects of systemic change in undergraduate education.

Goals

Participants will analyze characteristics of their educational context using the instructional-workforce framework for systemic, positive change in undergraduate education, including facets of professional development, governance, and evaluation and reward systems. They will map possibilities for organizational change and action using the framework and leave with strategies to work more systemically toward equity and justice for and with educators in their environments.
