Rita Kirshstein's career has focused on a number of higher education policy areas including higher education finance, college access and affordability, STEM education for underrepresented minorities, and faculty and staffing issues.  She was a Managing Director at the American Institutes for Research, where she led the Delta Cost Project as well as numerous evaluations of federal and state programs. Since 2015, Rita has been a Visiting Professor of Higher Education at George Washington University.   She has served on the board of trustees of the University of the District of Columbia and on the board of directors of College Bound, a DC-based college access program.
