Mary Allen

Hartwick College

<p class="MsoNormal">Mary E. Allen has a doctorate in biology from Florida State University. Currently, she is a Professor of Biology at Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY where she teaches courses that include microbiology, microbial ecology, and introductory biology. From 2019-2023 Allen served as the College’s academic assessment coordinator and guided the development of learning outcomes for a new general education curriculum. For the past 20 years Allen has been an active participant in education activities of the American Society for Microbiology. She served as a Curriculum Section Editor and then Senior Curriculum Editor for the Journal of Microbiology and Biology Education (JMBE) and is now a member of the ASM Subcommittee for Undergraduate Education. Mary is currently serving as Program Director for the Howard Hughes Medical Institite (HHMI) Inclusive Excellence 3 Undergraduate Science Education grant to Hartwick College.
